On Friday, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement in response to media reports that unaccompanied migrant children housed at the at the San Antonio Freeman Coliseum are being mistreated and released to human traffickers:

The deeply troubling news reports of children going missing, being mistreated, and under inadequate staffing at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio are the direct consequence of Joe Biden's incompetent, politically motivated open-borders policy and needs to end right now. Governor Abbott rightly raised alarms about this facility weeks ago, only to be ignored by the federal government.

These children are in the coliseum because this administration's reckless open-borders agenda ignited a massive self-inflicted border crisis. Joe Biden created this problem, and there is no excuse for any mistreatment of the children who are now in his administration's care as a result. If President Biden truly had any compassion for these children, and the countless others currently being trafficked and exploited by cartels and coyotes for profit, he would immediately secure them and halt the flow at the border; but that doesn't fit his open borders agenda.

If he won't, Texas should step in.
